Olly Scoops The Pool
Olly Ross's consistency and skill throughout the season were rewarded in swimming pool conditions last race of the year when he survived a first corner incident in the last race recovering his Europa to finish second and win the 2008 Yokohama Scottish Classic Sports & Saloon Championship and Class C. A close call indeed, as a DNF would have resulted in Stan Bernard's Porsche 911 taking outright honours. Ian Longford and Jimmy Crow both racing 2 litre Escorts fought hard throughout the year finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively in Class C.
Stan, had the consolation of triumphing in both races, taking his 10th outright win of the season, 2nd in the Championship, Class D honours and the BMRC Champion of Champions Trophy.
Matthew Gordon in only his 2nd season and piloting his bright yellow and orange 911 showed commendable consistency throughout the year taking a 3rd and 4th at the final meeting and netting him 3rd overall in the Championship and 2nd in Class D. Third in Class D was well taken by rookie Grant Allan in another 911.
George Leitch driving his rare Mini Ogle driving as hard as ever was edged out in the first race by Steven Swan's immaculate Renault Gordini and the second race by Colin Beveridge in the Red Alfa Sud, both drivers delighted to take thier first class wins of the season. However, George's two second places were more than enough to secure him Class B in Championship followed by Ian Morton's MG Midget in 2nd with Colin Beveridge in 3rd place.
An exciting weekend in challenging conditions ended what has been an excellent season for the Classics with grid sizes doubling and tremendous interest already for 2009.

Kenny Allen and Olly Ross shared Kenny's Elan in Class 8 for Sportscars 01/01/61 to 31/12/73 following Olly's dropped valve at the last Knockhill meeting. Olly finished 2nd in Class with a 22.42s while Kenny came in 4th with 23.38s. Jimmy Crow achieved 3rd FTD with 21.99s and 2nd in class 2 with his Escort with Andrew Swanston's Escort taking 3rd in that class. Tom Wilson in the rapid Sunbeam Talbot Ti won class 12 on 22.25s. Jim Grant had a 23.67s, local man Joe Johnston's Elan + 2 finished on 25.32s and Alan Biggar also drove his Morgan Plus 8 with a best of 25.74s.
The event was well supported over the two days although Saturday was very wet and the Paddock had to be re-located further up the hill as the original at the bottom became waterlogged. Sunday was a mix of sunshine and showers and the recently resurfaced track was pretty greasy.
